The school was started in the year 1960, as a high school and in 1978, it was upgraded as a Higher Secondary school.
While the medium of instruction is Tamil from Stds. VI to X, both Tamil and English medium options are offered for classes XI & XII. The total students strength is 1177 for this academic year (2022-23) with 52 teaching and non-teaching staff members.

Clubs and Activities
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.It provides opportunity to the students of classes XI and XII to take part in various community service activities and programmes. Campus cleaning, social awareness rally participation, assisting in public functions, attending 7 days long special camp in a remote rural area etc., are the regular activities for our NSS volunteers.
Our NSS Unit consists of 50 volunteers and a Programme Officer.
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The National Cadet Corps is an Indian Military Cadet Corps with its headquarters at New Delhi. It is open to school students on voluntary basis. The motto of NCC is “Unity and discipline”. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parade, leadership skills and personality development. Combined Annual Training Programme, March past parade practice etc., are the regular activities for NCC students. Our NCC unit consists of 100 cadets and an officer. They extend their services during important celebrations in the Vidyalaya campus.
Junior Red Cross (JRC)
Our school secondary class students represent a substantial part of the membership of Junior Red Cross which stands for humanitarian commitment. Our volunteers make significant contribution to promote the personal health and hygiene awareness, community service, environmental cleanliness etc. The school has 30 JRC students from the classes VI, VII and VIII.
National Green Corps
National Green Corps is a major initiative of MOEFCC (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) for creating environmental awareness launched in 2001-02 which aims at building cadres of young children working towards environmental conservation and sustainable development. The programme has a cascading effect, seeks to redirect the consciousness of students towards environment friendly attitudes and actions and goes beyond schools, promoting school-society interactions to sensitize the society. Our school shows an active participation in this movement through tree plantation programs, planting and nurturing organic vegetables, maintaining the trees and plants in the campus etc.
Our school National Green Corps consists of 40 students from class IX and a coordinator.
Social Science Club
A social science club is formed in our school with 25 students from classes VI to X. The objective of forming this club is to impart knowledge of our culture, history and heritage by inculcating interest among the students through field visits. The club also undertakes activities such as collecting newspaper reports.
Tamil Literary Association and Skill Competitions
Tamil Literary Association is formed in our school to promote awareness of the glory of Tamil language and literature. Scholars from various fields are invited to deliver speeches on different subjects. The association gives opportunity to participate in various literary competitions held in the Vidyalaya and other educational institutions in and around Coimbatore. The students show active participation in zonal level literary and cultural competitions organized by Tamilnadu State department of School Education. Every year, students participate and win prizes in Gurupuja Literary Competitions held at Vidyalaya.
School Annual Day
School Annual day celebration is held every year. Students present various cultural performances on this occasion followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
